Spring Dairy Expo kicks off Thursday, April 2nd

Dairy farmers, other agricultural professionals and consumers can make their way to the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio from Thursday, April 2nd to Saturday, April 4th for the Spring Dairy Expo.

The events kick off at 11:30 Thursday morning and all three days will feature different activities for visitors to attend.

More than 800 head of cattle will be on hand and competing for Junior and Supreme championships.

On Thursday, visitors can take part in a silent auction at 3:00pm. Friday afternoon will have a Guernsey sale and Saturday will feature a 4-H judging contest. A full schedule of events can be found on the show’s website.

The state 4-H dairy contest will have three separate divisions: junior for ages 8-11, intermediate for 12-14 and senior for 15 and over.

The expo will also feature a variety of animals for sale including Ayrshire, Milking Shorthorn and Holstein.

The Spring Dairy Expo isn’t the only show coming to Ohio in 2015.

From September 22nd - 24th, London, Ohio will play host to the 53rd Farm Science Review.

It will feature machinery sales, inductions into the Farm Science Review Hall of Fame and demonstration plots.

The demonstrations will focus on strip-tilling, planting, manure and other very important aspects to running a successful farm.

The 12-day war between Iran-Israel came to an end sending crude oil futures plunging as the big fund speculators removed the war risk premium.

The weather risk premium in the Ag complex is sending corn, wheat and soybean futures lower on month-end selling ahead of the market moving USDA quarterly grain stocks and acreage reports on June 30th.

Instead, funds were chasing and sending tech stocks higher with the S&P 500/NASDAQ indexes setting new all-time record highs!

June 1 USDA Hogs and pigs report was slightly bearish while the U.S. $ Index traded to new contract lows as the de-dollarization that began in 2014 continues.

Feed in the form of soybean meal futures for livestock producers got cheaper, trading to new contract lows.

The Stats Canada seeded acreage update was bullish canola and wheat.
