The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) has officially welcomed the Canadian Pork Council (CPC) as its newest member, marking a significant moment of collaboration within Canada’s agricultural sector.
Representing over 7,000 farms across nine provinces, the CPC is a vital player in Canada’s pork industry, which supports more than 100,000 jobs nationwide and generates over $5 billion annually in global exports. With 70% of Canadian pork production destined for international markets, the CPC’s work is a key driver of economic activity in rural communities across the country.
“We are so pleased to welcome the Canadian Pork Council as a member of the CFA,” said Keith Currie, CFA President. “With CPC at the table, our unified national voice grows even stronger, especially when engaging with the federal government on critical issues like sustainability, labour, animal health, trade, and competitiveness.”
The CPC’s formal membership strengthens a longstanding collaboration between the two organizations, allowing for deeper joint advocacy efforts and a more cohesive national representation on issues facing Canadian producers.
“As a national organization representing pork producers from nine provinces, it’s important for us to be part of a collective voice that speaks for Canadian agriculture as a whole,” said René Roy, CPC Chair. “We believe in the value of unity across sectors and see this membership as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and ensure pork producers are well represented on the national stage.”
This milestone reinforces the CFA’s mission to build a resilient, competitive, and sustainable agricultural sector in Canada — one that is prepared to tackle the challenges and opportunities ahead.
