CASA To Launch Grain Safety Program At Ag Days

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) will be launching a new grain safety program at this year's Manitoba Ag Days in Brandon.

The BeGrainSafe program is composed of four educational components including a mobile grain safety demonstration and training unit. It also includes an interactive trade show display, table top youth displays, and a BeGrainSafe website.

“Manitoba Ag Days is an excellent venue to launch this program,” says Marcel Hacault, CASA’s Executive Director. “Ag Days has time and again shown commitment to farm safety. This launch gives CASA the opportunity to showcase the program to farmers, their families and the generous sponsors that have made BeGrainSafe a reality.”

While the mobile demonstration unit that CASA will be using in Brandon has been brought in from the United States, a Canadian version will be on the road across the Canadian Prairies in the spring.

"The board of Manitoba Ag Days is thrilled to be the first to showcase this very much needed program in Western Canada," says Kristen Phillips, Manitoba Ag Days' Executive Director.  "We are proud to have supported the start up of BeGrainSafe."

The BeGrainSafe program, the first of its kind in Canada, will work to bring rescue training to first responders, educate the public about the dangers of moving grain and will be used to provide in-depth prevention and emergency plan training to workplaces.

Manitoba Ag Days takes place January 17-19, 2017 at the Keystone Centre.
