Famous the world over, Case IH takes home another international award, this time for its heavyweight tractor, the Optum 3004 CVXDrive.

The Optum won the “2021 Tractor of the Year” award in the heavyweight tractor category at the China Agricultural Machinery Annual TOP50+ award ceremony held last month in Zhongxiang, Hubei, China, at the 10th China Agriculture Machinery High-end Forum.

Noted as one of the more prestigious events in the industry, it presents agricultural machinery technology development trends and promotes advanced agricultural products and innovations.

Capable of being equipped with a heavy-duty suspended front axle to deliver the best performance and efficiency, both in the field and on the road, the Optum offers an intelligent controlling system and low maintenance costs

The Optum 3004 CVXDrive is powered by a powerful and reliable FPT NEF engine to maximize fuel economy. It also uses a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, for a low-maintenance after-treatment system with no exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The after-treatment system is developed alongside the engine system to maintain the engine’s efficiency and constant-speed fuel economy.

The Optum 3004 CVXDrive has a 630L fuel tank and 96L diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank. The hydraulic pumps offer a maximum flow of 220 L/min, while the rear lift capacity is up to 11,058 kilograms.

Automatic Productivity Management (APM) allows the driver to shift easily while the tractor’s ECO driving mode reduces unnecessary fuel consumption. An automatic parking brake technology controls the tractor’s stability.

The cab provides outstanding visibility with 5.87 meters of glass, and the noise-cancelling function limits noise to only 69 decibels. These features ensure the Optum series CVXDrive is suitable for all-day operation.

Pat Hoffman, Swine Technical Consultant and Elanco Animal Health tells us about the inpact or New World Screwworm. The emergence of New World screwworm in the U.S. creates a threat for veterinarians, livestock producers and pet owners that has not been seen north of the Florida Keys since the fly was eradicated from the United States more than 50 years ago. New World screwworm (Cochliomyia hominivorax) larvae feed on living tissue and can affect a wide range of warm-blooded animals, including livestock, companion animals, wildlife, and even humans.
“New World screwworm could have a devastating impact on animal health, welfare, and producer livelihoods,” said Jeff Simmons, President and CEO, Elanco Animal Health. “We want to thank the FDA, EPA and USDA, for all their work to prepare for this threat. We’re committed to supporting our customers during this challenging time by delivering innovation, scientific expertise, and available resources to help treat New World screwworm and support the health and well-being of animals.”
Elanco is working alongside the U.S. animal health industry to help them fight against this parasite, offering a portfolio of options for pets and livestock that can help treat New World screwworm larvae infestations.
