CFA Hosts Annual Meeting In Ottawa

The Canadian Federation of Agriculture wrapped up its annual general meeting last week in Ottawa.

Some of the key issues discussed included trade and carbon pricing.

President Ron Bonnet was re-elected for another term.

"Agriculture is gaining recognition as a sector that is primed for considerable growth, but it is clear that we as an industry need to work together to address key obstacles to this growth," said Bonnett. "The next Agricultural Policy Framework is critical in this regard, as is improving Canada's grain transportation infrastructure, and ensuring producers have access to the labour they need to grow their businesses."

In other CFA election results, members elected former APAS president Norm Hall as first-vice president. Marcel Groleau, a dairy producer from Quebec, was acclaimed as second-vice president.
