BURLINGTON, ON - Premium Brands Holdings Corporation announced significant investment in one of Ontario’s value-added processors of organic chicken, Yorkshire Valley Farms. The partnership between Premier Brands and Yorkshire Valley Farms targets accelerated expansion for the rapidly evolving and high-growth organic product category.

“We welcome this investment in Ontario’s chicken industry,” said Ed Benjamins, Chair, Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “It further demonstrates the growth and potential of the industry, and our ability to positively evolve alongside consumers as their food preferences change.”

“We endeavour to provide Ontarians with a myriad of chicken choices,” stated Rob Dougans, President and CEO of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “It’s great to see the industry working together to ensure strategic investments are being made in emerging and growing business segments, and that our on-farm production practices support consumer demand for high quality chicken.”

The organic market segment is one of the fastest evolving protein product categories in Canada. As the premier provider of chicken in the country, the Ontario chicken industry has a significant opportunity for additional growth within the organic domestic and export markets.

Chicken Farmers of Ontario looks forward to working with Premier Brands and Yorkshire Valley to capture value and embrace new opportunities as the industry continues to grow and evolve.
