Corteva Agriscience launches Vorceed Enlist corn products in Canada

Canadian farmers can now utilize Vorceed Enlist corn technology in Pioneer brand corn and Brevant seeds to manage corn rootworm.

On July 5, 2023, Corteva, Inc. announced it will launch Vorceed Enlist corn products in Canada via Pioneer brand corn and Brevant seeds to manage corn rootworm (CRW) pressure.

Vorceed Enlist corn combines three modes of action for above-ground insect protection and three modes of action for below-ground insect protection, including RNAi technology.

It also includes tolerance to four herbicides – 2,4-D choline, glyphosate, glufosinate, and FOPs—to help improve resistant weed management.

Enlist Duo and Enlist 1 herbicides are the only 2,4-D formulations that are approved for use on Vorceed Enlist corn. Enlist herbicides, when used per the label, stay on target and have reduced potential for drift and near-zero volatility compared to traditional 2,4-D formulations.

“We are raising the bar for performance with Vorceed Enlist corn by offering Canadian farmers maximized yield potential, exceptional corn rootworm protection, and more flexible weed management by leveraging our most advanced weed control technology,” explained Jeremy Dirks, the Vice President, Canada Commercial Business for Corteva Agriscience. “Vorceed Enlist corn will be available in Corteva’s elite genetics featuring strong agronomics from the largest corn germplasm library in the industry.”

With three modes of action against CRW, Corteva field trials have shown an approximate 99 percent reduction in adult emergence of Western and Northern CRW compared to non-traited controls. As part of an overall CRW management strategy implementing best management practices, Vorceed Enlist can help reduce future CRW populations.

Enabled by the Enlist weed control system, Vorceed Enlist corn features tolerance to four herbicides, giving farmers several options to help manage tough and resistant weeds like water hemp, Canada fleabane, and late-season emerged broadleaf weeds.

Vorceed Enlist corn will be available in limited quantities for 2024 planting, with a ramp-up in a broader set of genetic backgrounds and maturities for the 2025 planting season.

Like all products developed through Corteva’s R&D programs, Vorceed Enlist corn must undergo rigorous evaluations where characteristics like root and stalk strength, late-season stability, and disease tolerance are tested in multiple locations, including the US and Canada.

Vorceed Enlist corn is authorized in several markets, including in the European Union and US Individual traits within the product also have received numerous import authorizations globally.

Can supplemental nitrogen help soybeans reach higher yield potential? Technical Agronomist Tim Sickman walks through an ongoing trial at the Nutrien Innovation Farm in Owensboro, Kentucky, exploring whether a modest amount of nitrogen applied at planting can support higher-yielding soybean environments.

The trial compares 30 pounds of supplemental nitrogen across both 15- and 30-inch rows, along with treatments that include sulfur and micronutrients. Similar trials conducted in 2024 and 2025 delivered a six- to seven-bushel yield response, prompting the team to expand the research this season.

Early observations show that treated soybeans are slightly taller and averaging about two additional nodes on the main stem. These added nodes could create more opportunities for blooms and pods, but the true results will come at harvest when the team evaluates pod development, seed fill and final yield.
