There is growing interest in regenerative agriculture on the prairies.
That’s why SaskSoil decided that it made sense that the first Canadian screening of the documentary film Common Ground should happen in Saskatchewan.
The film has generated a lot of attention after winning the Human/Nature Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.
President Derek Axten said it was an exciting opportunity for SaskSoil.
“We are thrilled to not only be hosting the screening but also a post-event panel consisting of Cody Straza, Mark Hoimyr, Rick Clark and myself,” Axten said. “I encourage everyone who wants to learn more about regenerative agriculture and soil health in general to attend.”
Axten has already seen the film. He said while it addresses concerns it also provides a message of hope. Axten said the agriculture community and the general public should watch the documentary.
“I think it’s important for all of us to see the film because I think it’s going to be a good place to start a conversation about solutions and find common ground to talk about health issues and some of our climate concerns and just have a really open, transparent conversation. I think it’s going to be a really good night,” Axten said.
Common Ground is the follow-up documentary to Kiss the Ground (Netflix) where science experts and celebrity activists discuss the ways soil may be the key to combating climate change and preserving the planet.
