2018 Ag Progress Days to feature commercial exhibits and machinery demos

Penn State’s Ag Progress Days is officially set to take place between August 14 and August 16 at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center at Rock Springs. Admission and parking are free, and there is expected to be 500 commercial and educational exhibits at the event.

"There are few shows that have the number and variety of new goods, services, equipment and methods to improve efficiency and profitability as we have at Ag Progress Days," said Jesse Darlington, Ag Progress Days manager. "Farmers and nonfarmers alike will appreciate the quality and quantity of the vendors and their wares."

At the event, the latest in agricultural innovation and technology will be showcased. Commercial exhibitors from virtually every product category, including field machinery, animal genetics, and storage structures, will be on hand for attendees to see.

There will be new demonstrations this year on planting into green cover crops, corn chopping, and no-till drills. A special demonstration on how to diversify farm operations with vegetable crops will also be held, and according to Darlington, it will encompass two plots – one that features recommended equipment and planting/irrigation techniques, and another that features grown crops.

"Folks will be able to see the finished product during the show — tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, sweet corn, kale and broccoli," Darlington says.
