Forks Market To Host 15th Discover Agriculture In The City Event

The 15th Discover Agriculture in the City event takes place Saturday at the Forks Market in Winnipeg.

The event is a chance for Winnipegers to learn more about where their food comes from.

Close to 20 agricultural organizations will be setup onsite, with interactive displays.

Committee Member Richard Lavergne is with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC).

"A lot of people in the city don't really understand where agriculture is and how important it is for our economy and so what we do every year, and this is the 15th year that we we've got Agriculture in the City, we try to show people how important it is and show them the new science and innovation that's happening in agriculture and also the environmental concerns and environmental practices that farmers do and the marketing."

Lavergne says they're expecting to see about 15,000 to 17,000 people come out for the event, which is free to the public.

Discover Agriculture in the City runs from 10am to 4pm Saturday at the Forks Market.
