Government of Canada invests $202,340 to enhance community infrastructure in Erin

Erin, Ontario - Community infrastructure is at the heart of local communities, bringing together residents and visitors alike, while supporting local businesses, jobs and economies.

Today, on behalf of the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), Lloyd Longfield, Member of Parliament for Guelph, announced an investment of $202,340 to enhance the region under the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF). With this investment, the Erin Agricultural Society will build upon their community infrastructure to support local economic growth and quality of life for residents and visitors of Erin.

This support will allow the Erin Agricultural Society to build a permanent dome at the Erin Fairgrounds. This will allow activities to move from a temporary structure, only available during the Fair, to a permanent Agricultural Awareness Dome that can be used throughout the year. This will benefit the community by creating an accessible public space that will ensure the education and promotion of agriculture as well as provide an additional multi-use community venue for residents year round. The space will provide an inclusive space that local schools and community groups can access to learn the value of agriculture for our economy, innovation and growth in Canada.
