Government Sends Compensation Letters To Dairy Farmers

Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau says that beginning Thursday, November 21, letters are being sent to all eligible Canadian dairy producers, outlining the process to access their compensation through the Dairy Direct Payment Program.

Over the summer, the federal government announced $1.75 billion over eight years for dairy producers to cover losses resulting from the CETA and CPTPP trade deals.

Dairy producers will receive $345 million in the first year as direct payments in proportion to their quota.
