Grain Transportation Discussed In Regina Between Farmers And Senior Federal Officials

Grain transportation dominated discussion in Regina Thursday between senior federal officials and several farm groups.

Federal agriculture minister Lawrence MacAulay says farmers want to see an efficient rail movement for this year’s bumper crop.

He says farmers want more input on the issue but the minister skirted around the issue of setting up new regulations.

Regina MP Ralph Goodale was also part of the discussions.

He says the railways are under scrutiny and he does not want to see a repeat of the grain movement backlog of three years ago.
