How Strategic Partnerships Benefit Nebraska Corn Farmers

The world is more interconnected than ever, and that’s especially true when it comes to corn farming and other forms of agriculture.

By joining together with like-minded individuals and associations, the Nebraska Corn Board can serve the state’s corn farmers through promotion, market development, research and education.

These strategic partnerships allow stakeholders from all aspects of the industry to pool their talents and resources to promote corn-based products on a global scale.

By driving market growth and increasing the value of corn, this provides Nebraska farmers with expanded market opportunities, higher prices, sustainability and increased profitability. Here’s a closer look at key partners and how they help the Nebraska Corn Board enhance opportunities for corn growers in Nebraska and around the United States.

WHO IS THE NATIONAL CORN GROWERS ASSOCIATION?

Created in 1957, the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) aims to protect and advance corn growers’ interests. It does that by focusing on increasing demand and strengthening the trust between customers and corn growers. It also seeks to enhance farmer productivity and sustainability.

The NCGA does this with the help of more than 40,000 dues-paying farmers and growers who fund corn checkoff programs in their states.

Why partnership with the National Corn Growers Association helps Nebraska farmers

The NCGA has affiliate organizations in corn-growing states around the country. In Nebraska, the affiliates are the Nebraska Corn Board and the Nebraska Corn Growers Association.

Partnering with NCGA is integral to furthering Nebraska Corn’s four core priorities:

  • Increase grassroots producer engagement in education, leadership development, advocacy, policy efforts and local communities.

Collaborate to grow sustainability and demand for corn in all forms.

  • Strengthen the reputation of corn as a trustworthy energy, food and feed ingredient.
  • Foster a culture of continuous coaching and professional development within the organizations to enhance skills and support program, career and leadership growth.

Working with the NCGA allows the Nebraska Corn Board to accomplish its goals through agricultural educationtalent developmentagricultural research and spreading awareness of the many uses and benefits of corn.

WHO IS THE U.S. GRAINS COUNCIL?

The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) promotes international trade for corn, corn co-products, ethanol and distillers’ grains as well as for sorghum and barley. It seeks to continually improve grain sales, farmer profitability, promote beneficial trade policies and represent U.S. farmers around the world. The USCG mission is to develop markets, enable trade and improve lives.

Why the Nebraska Corn Board’s partnership with the U.S. Grains Council helps corn growers

The USCG is an important partner for Nebraska corn farmers because it helps build global markets for the state’s corn, ethanol and other corn-based products.

Roughly 10-20% of U.S. corn is exported each year for use as livestock feed, food and ethanol used as fuel around the world—some $18.57 billion worth of corn was exported in 2022. Because of this, the promotion of international agricultural trade is critically important, and international markets represent the greatest potential for growth and profitability for Nebraska’s corn farmers. Partnering with the USGC helps build this trade sector.

WHO IS THE U.S. MEAT EXPORT FEDERATION?

The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) seeks to increase the profit and value of U.S. beef, pork and lamb by increasing demand around the world. Its membership represents a wide reach of the agricultural industry, from farm-based organizations like the Nebraska Corn Board to livestock producers, meat packers, farm organizations and more.

Based in Denver, Colorado, USMEF has offices in several major cities throughout the world. In addition, USMEF has special representatives serving countries around the globe.

Why partnership with the U.S. Meat Export Federation is important for corn farmers

Corn and co-products like corn gluten meal and distillers grains are vital sources of nutrition for livestock, domestically and internationally. By supporting the USMEF and its mission, the Nebraska Corn Board helps build demand for the livestock and the corn-based food products used to help the animals grow healthy and strong.

After a week of a U.S./China trade truce, markets/trade is skeptical that we have not seen a signed agreement nor heard much from China or seen any details. There are rumors that China is buying soybean futures & not the physical. Trust in Trump?
12 MMT of U.S. soybean purchases by China by year-end is better than 0 but we all need to give it more time and give it a chance to unfold. China did lower the tariffs on Ag and is buying U.S. wheat and sorghum.
U.S. supreme court could rule against Trumps tariffs, but the Trump administration does have a plan B.
U.S. government shutdown is now the longest in history at 38 days.
But despite a U.S. government shutdown we will be getting a USDA November crop report next Friday and it could be “game changing.” If the USDA provides a bullish surprise with lower U.S. corn and soybean yields and ending stocks that are lower than expected both corn and soybean futures will break out above their ceilings at $4.35/bu and $11.35/bu respectively.
The funds continued their selling in live and feeder cattle futures on continued fears that the Trump administration want to lower U.S. beef prices. The fundamentals have not changed, only market psychology has.
