MDARD Director Selects Mikaylah Heffernan as New Legislative Liaison

Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) Director Tim Boring today announced the selection of Mikaylah Heffernan as the department's legislative liaison, effective today. Heffernan replaces Ashley Steffen, who has taken a position within the Michigan Attorney General s office. 

"Mikaylah's legislative and governmental experience, along with her passion for agriculture, brings a unique perspective to key departmental issues such as protecting animal health, furthering climate resiliency, and growing our agricultural economy in Michigan. We're thrilled to have her join the MDARD team and hit the ground running," said Director Boring.   

Heffernan previously worked as a House Democratic Policy Advisor for the Michigan House of Representatives, focusing on agriculture and natural resources.  

She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in public policy, both from Michigan State University.
