Ontario Hog Market Sees Modest Uptick as July Closes

The Ontario hog market showed a slight rebound for the week ending July 25, with the 100% base formula price rising to $270.92/cwt, up from $267.29 the week prior. This marks a continuation of modest gains through July, with prices still trending well above 2024 levels.

On the piglet side, weaned pig values climbed to $70.44 and feeder pigs hit $111.75, both following the base price trend.

Nationally, federal and provincial slaughter totaled 437,593 head, up 5% over last year, showing strength in Canadian throughput. In Quebec, pool prices rose to $253.78, while the Manitoba calculated hog value held steady at $268.41.
