Ottawa and Quebec offering $35,900 To La Maison d’affinage Maurice Dufour

Quebec City, Quebec – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

The Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec are providing La Maison d’affinage Maurice Dufour with financial assistance of up to $35,975 for its project to develop markets for its new wines and spirits. The company is planning to develop its brand, launch its products in the media, create promotional material, offer wine tasting days throughout the province and create an online retail site. Particularly known for its cheeses, including Le Migneron, the company intends to expand its range of products and improve its performances. This financial assistance is offered to La Maison d’affinage Maurice Dufour through the Market Access Program (MAP) under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership.

Jean-Claude Poissant, Parliamentary Secretary for the federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, and Caroline Simard, provincial MNA for Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré, on behalf of Laurent Lessard, Quebec Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, made the announcement specifying that the purpose of the Market Access Program is to increase the availability of Quebec products within various distribution networks, to foster the diversification of Quebec markets for companies and to strengthen their marketing skills.

These investments are in line with the 2018–2025 Politique alimentaire (bio-food policy) : Alimenter notre monde. This policy recognizes the importance of investing in food processing. One of its objectives is entitled “Investing in Business”. It is also aiming at increasing the Quebec content of bio-food purchases by $10 billion by 2015. Lastly, the purpose of the Policy is to support businesses in the use of new technology, such as the online retail site that La Maison d’affinage Maurice Duvour is planning to launch.

This project is in line with the Government of Quebec’s desire to support sustainable development initiatives, since the company uses whey derived from its cheese-making to produce spirits, thereby reducing resource waste.
