On a previous program, we heard from Allan Pelletier, director of livestock traceability with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, about premises identification, which is one of the pillars of traceability that links livestock and poultry to land locations or premises. Brad Andres, director of emergency management services with the department, says it is also an early warning system that can be used to notify animal owners of a natural disaster such as a flood or fire that could affect their animals or operations.
