Pulse Weekly: Effects of trade war on pulses remain to be seen

As the trade war between Canada and the United States begins to brew, it’s unknown if pulses will get caught up in the tit-for-tat melee.

“Like many groups, we are analyzing last week’s developments to gauge what impact could be had on our sector,” said Jeff English, vice president, public affairs for Pulse Canada.

English said it would be premature for Pulse Canada to speculate what impacts the trade war will have on Canadian agriculture.

Bruce Burnett, analyst with Glacier FarmMedia suggested there likely won’t be an impact on pulses, as well as cereals and oilseeds.
