Rep. Johnson crowned new House Speaker

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) voiced its approval following the election of Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) as the Speaker of the House. AFBF's President, Zippy Duvall, highlighted Johnson's consistent backing of the nation's farmers and ranchers. His staunch support earned him the esteemed title of ‘Friend of Farm Bureau’ on several occasions. 

Duvall emphasized the responsibility resting on Speaker Johnson and the Congress. He said, "The immediate requirements include finalizing appropriations for the 2024 fiscal year and ensuring the farm bill’s passage."  

This bill is instrumental for the country’s agricultural producers, providing them with certainty. Moreover, it guarantees an affordable and safe food supply for all Americans. 

The AFBF assures its readiness to cooperate with Speaker Johnson in endorsing this pivotal legislation. Duvall concluded, "Every American family has high hopes from Johnson's leadership."
