Saskatchewan's 2020 Farm And Food Care Champion - Tiffany Martinka

Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan held its Annual Conference this week.

One of the highlights was the presentation of the Farm and Food Care Champion Award to Tiffany Martinka.

Martinka and her husband and family own and operate a grain and broiler chicken farm in northeast Saskatchewan, near St. Benedict.

"I feel so honoured to have been selected for this award. It can take a lot of work to create content and open up about your farm and your family life. Every so often I stop to ask myself, Is it worth it? Is it worth all this work to open up and share? Every time I ask myself this question, the answer is always yes."

She has a strong presence on social media and enjoys sharing what life is like on the farm.

"I believe we belong to one of the greatest industries in the world. We also have some of the best people who belong to this industry. We have such a good news story to tell in agriculture, and I feel compelled to share that story. I want to share the beauty of the family farm with everybody."

This past year Martinka was selected as 1 of 5 young farmers across Canada to participate in Chicken Farmers of Canada young farmer program which has presented many unique opportunities to learn and grow as a farmer in Canada’s chicken industry.
