Statement on cabinet shuffle and new Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food

OTTAWA, – Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) President Mary Robinson made the following statements in reaction to cabinet shuffle and the appointment of a new Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

“The Canadian Federation of Agriculture is sad to see Minister MacAulay leaving the position of Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. Minister MacAulay has been a strong ally to Canadian agriculture and our organization since his appointment in 2015, and we wish him the best in his new position as Minister of Veteran Affairs.

While we are sad to see Minister MacAulay move on, we greatly look forward to working with the new Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Marie-Claude Bibeau. CFA represents 200,000 farm families, and we hope to work closely with Minister Bibeau to ensure that Federal government policies are aligned with farmer priorities. Together we can work together to unlock the potential of Canadian agriculture, which has been identified as one of the key sectors for economic growth by the Barton report in 2017”
