Whether you are new to hay production or an old hand at it, I invite you to learn more about producing high quality hay by attending the 6th Southeast Hay Convention. This year’s event will be held on March 11-12, 2014 in Watkinsville, GA at the Oconee County Civic Center. This is a MUST for anyone who is serious about making and selling good quality hay. This training is unique in the Southeast. It is essentially the only opportunity for those who are serious about commercial hay production to get an A to Z coverage of the subject.

Special Topics include:

  1. The bermudagrass stem maggot
  2. Soils of the South and the role for gypsum to improve fertility
  3. New hay feeding system
  4. Hay production economics and outlook
  5. Climate outlook and implications for the hay market
  6. Fertilization outlook for hay producers
  7. Baled silage in-depth, including a detailed look at baleage economics
  8. Hay stacking and tarpaulin demonstration
  9. Rainfall simulator demonstration effects on erosion
  10. AND 20+ other modules!

Participants attend this event from all of the southeastern states and as far away as Puerto Rico. Demand for this year’s event is sure to be high again.

The 2014 Southeast Hay Convention begins at 8:00 a.m. on March 11 and will include two days of learning and interacting with fellow hay producers and University Specialists. The registration fee for this year’s event is $150 per person ($100 for each extra person from the same farm) if attendees register by March 1.

The registration fee covers the cost of a 400+ page Southeast Hay Convention notebook, a weed identification book, and many other reference materials. Lunch and refreshments on both days are also included in the registration fee. However, you should register by March 1, because the registration cost will increase after March 1. Registration can be printed and mailed in with the payment, or it can be completed on-line with a credit or debit card. More information about the Southeast Hay Convention can be accessed online via the SE Hay Convention webpage
