Western Canada’s leading pork industry event highlights technology, education, and producer collaboration.

The Alberta Pork Congress (APC) 2026 is set to return to Westerner Park in Red Deer on June 10 and 11, 2026, bringing together producers, suppliers, and industry leaders from across Western Canada for two days of innovation, education, and connection.

Recognized as one of the most important swine-focused events in the region, the annual congress continues to serve as a vital hub for advancing pork production practices and strengthening relationships throughout the value chain.

The Alberta Pork Congress is an important event for the Canadian pork sector, offering a platform for knowledge sharing and business development in Western Canada. The 2026 edition is expected to draw a strong turnout of producers, veterinarians, researchers, and agribusiness professionals.

Attendees will have access to a comprehensive trade show featuring the latest advancements in:

  • Swine barn design and construction
  • Feeding systems and nutrition solutions
  • Animal health and veterinary products
  • Ventilation and environmental control technologies
  • Digital livestock management tools

With approximately 120 exhibitors anticipated, the show floor will offer a wide range of products and services aimed at improving efficiency, productivity, and sustainability across pork operations.

Innovation remains a central theme of the Alberta Pork Congress. Exhibitors and presenters will highlight tools and technologies designed to help producers respond to evolving challenges, including rising input costs, biosecurity concerns, and environmental pressures.

Live demonstrations and interactive exhibits are expected to provide hands-on insight into emerging technologies, including precision feeding systems and barn automation solutions.

Educational sessions and workshops will further support producers by delivering practical information on herd health, genetics, and operational management, ensuring attendees leave with actionable strategies they can implement on their farms.

Beyond the trade show, the congress emphasizes the importance of community within the pork sector. The event offers multiple opportunities for networking, allowing participants to exchange ideas and build partnerships that support long-term industry growth.

A highlight of the event is the awards banquet on the evening of June 10, which celebrates excellence, leadership, and innovation within Alberta’s pork industry.

By connecting producers with cutting-edge solutions and expert insights, the event helps ensure the industry remains competitive while continuing to meet evolving standards and market needs.

Research in Action is a video series from Swine Innovation Porc that highlights the people and projects driving innovation in Canada's pork sector.

In this episode, Dr. Aline Remus (Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada) explains how precision feeding is helping producers improve efficiency, reduce feed costs and lower environmental impacts while supporting animal health and welfare.

As part of Swine Cluster 4 - Activity 8, this research is advancing precision livestock farming by tailoring nutrition to the needs of individual pigs or groups of pigs. The project aims to reduce feed costs, decrease greenhouse gas emissions and nutrient losses, and develop practical precision feeding systems that producers can confidently adopt on-farm.

By bringing together researchers from across Canada and around the world, this work is helping transform innovative research into practical solutions for a more sustainable and competitive Canadian pork sector.
