Canadian Dairy Farmers Share Favourite Recipes in 2014 Milk Calendar

By Amanda Brodhagen, Farms.com

Cooking with milk is all the rage with the launch of the 2014 of the Milk Calendar.

Canadian dairy farmers from coast to coast teamed up to share their favourite recipes using 100% Canadian milk. Thirteen dishes are featured in the calendar, which will be distributed free this week in daily newspapers in Ontario and the Maritimes.

The calendar was first published in 1974, and became an instant hit with families across the country. For the first time since its inception, the calendar’s recipes are from dairy farmers themselves. The recipes are easy and deemed family-friendly.

For over two decades, Dr. Mitloehner has been at the forefront of research on how animal agriculture affects our air and our climate. With deep expertise in emissions and volatile organic compounds, his work initially focused on air quality in regions like California’s Central Valley—home to both the nation’s richest agricultural output and some of its poorest air quality.

In recent years, methane has taken center stage in climate discourse—not just scientifically, but politically. Once a topic reserved for technical discussions about manure management and feed efficiency, it has become a flashpoint in debates over sustainability, regulation, and even the legitimacy of livestock farming itself.
