Scholarship Supports Students Driving Ontarios Grain Future

Applications are now open for the 2026 Grain Farmers of Ontario Legacy Scholarship which supports students pursuing post-secondary education related to the future of Ontario’s grain and agri food industry.

The program aims to encourage education and leadership development among young people who wish to build careers connected to agriculture and food systems.

Now in its fifth year, the Legacy Scholarship focuses on developing future leaders across many fields. These include science technology, business communications, and public policy.

The scholarship reflects the wide range of careers that support modern agriculture beyond farming alone. Students from both agriculture and non-agriculture study programs are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship is open to students who are accepted or currently enrolled in any accredited post-secondary college or university program. Each year up to ten scholarships valued at five thousand dollars each are awarded. Up to five of these awards are reserved for students studying in non-agriculture specific fields showing the program’s inclusive approach.

Applicants must meet certain eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a permanent Ontario resident

  • Must be entering or currently enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program

  • Must be attending an accredited college or university

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student for the Fall 2026 semester

  • Applicants are eligible at any point during their studies

  •  Recipients may only receive the scholarship once

  •  Employees of Grain Farmers of Ontario and their children are not eligible

Students at any stage of their academic journey may apply. However, recipients can only receive the scholarship once, and employees of Grain Farmers of Ontario as well as their children are not eligible.

To apply, students must submit a resume of a letter of reference and an essay of between five hundred and one thousand words. The essay should explain the student’s field of study career goals and how their future work will benefit Ontario’s grain or agri food sector. Proof enrolment is also required.

Applications must be submitted by July 19, 2026. Click on the link to apply.
