Amazing Ag Days Adventure To Connect Students With Industry Reps

About 600 grade 7 & 8 students will be heading to this year's Manitoba Ag Days in Brandon.

Agriculture in the Classroom Manitoba is bringing the students to the event to take part in the Amazing Ag Days adventure.

Executive Director Johanne Ross says the show is the perfect opportunity to teach students about the agriculture industry.

"Manitoba Ag Days is the event of the year for Manitoba and thousands and thousands of displays are there and industry representatives, not to mention all the people coming through," she said. "It really shows the enormity of the industry to young people and we really wanted to find a way for them to engage with the booth people because that's not always easy for a young person."

About 40 different booths are taking part in the challenge, which will see students answer questions and take part in agriculture-related challenges. The winning school will earn the right to host a Made in Manitoba Breakfast.

Ross said the idea was to connect students and industry reps in a less formal setting.

Manitoba Ag Days gets underway Tuesday morning at 7:30 am with the Kick-Off Breakfast at the Roadhouse in the Canad Inns. Proceeds from the event will support Agriculture in the Classroom Manitoba.
