Winnipeg-based Ag Growth International celebrates three decades of building grain handling, storage, fertilizer, feed, food and digital solutions for agriculture.

As Canadians mark Canada Day, one homegrown agriculture company is also celebrating a major milestone.

Ag Growth International Inc. (AGI), a Winnipeg-based provider of equipment and solutions for agriculture, food and commercial markets, is marking 30 years in business in 2026. The company was formed in 1996 and later completed its initial public offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange in November 2004, according to AGI’s anniversary announcement.

The milestone offers an opportunity to recognize the role Canadian agriculture companies play beyond national borders. Over three decades, AGI has grown from its entrepreneurial beginnings into a global organization serving customers in more than 100 countries. Its portfolio now includes solutions for grain handling and storage, fertilizer, feed, food and digital technologies, supporting farmers, commercial grain operators, processors and other customers across the agricultural value chain.

AGI’s growth has been built around a mix of manufacturing, engineering and brand development. The company’s product names include Westfield, Batco, Westeel and Hi Roller, which AGI says typically rank as the number one or number two brands in many of the categories and regions where it operates.

For farmers and agri-businesses, the importance of those product categories is practical. Grain handling and storage systems help move and protect crops after harvest, while equipment and technology linked to fertilizer, feed and food systems support broader agricultural productivity and supply chain efficiency.

“Thirty years in business is an important milestone for AGI,” said Paul Brisebois, Interim President and CEO of AGI. “It reflects the long-term dedication of our employees, the trust of our customers, and the strong foundation that has enabled AGI to grow and serve agriculture markets around the world.”

The company plans to recognize the anniversary throughout 2026. AGI says it will use a specially designed 30th-anniversary logo, hold employee recognition initiatives and host celebration events across key regions during the summer and fall.

The anniversary also puts renewed focus on AGI’s Canadian roots. AGI’s company history identifies Rob Stenson, Art Stenson and Gary Anderson as the founders whose vision helped shape the organization. In its early years, AGI expanded by acquiring complementary companies and building manufacturing capacity and dealer access, including additions such as Wheatheart Manufacturing and Westfield Industries.

Gary Anderson, one of AGI’s original co-founders, said the company’s early purpose was centred on farmers and agricultural businesses.

“When we started AGI, the focus was on building practical, reliable solutions for farmers and agricultural businesses,” Anderson said. “As I reflect on AGI’s journey, I always come back to the people — those who took a chance to work with us, buy our products, and invest as shareholders. Seeing AGI grow into a global organization, while staying true to value, quality and strong customer relationships, is something we’re incredibly proud of. The true magic behind building this extraordinary business has always come from the shared belief and commitment of those people.”

Art Stenson, also a co-founder, said the anniversary brings back memories of the company’s beginnings and the role of his late brother, Rob Stenson.
“This anniversary brings back many memories,” Stenson said. “My brother Rob, Gary and I deeply believed in agriculture and in building a company upon which farmers and customers could rely. Rob would be immensely proud to see what AGI has become today — its people, its global reach, and the impact it continues to have across the industry. That founding spirit is still very much alive.”

AGI’s history reflects a broader Canadian agriculture story: companies that begin by solving local farm challenges can become international suppliers when their products address common needs across global food systems. Storage, handling, movement, monitoring and processing remain essential concerns for producers and agribusinesses in Canada and abroad.

The company’s evolution has also mirrored changes in modern agriculture. Farmers and commercial operators are increasingly looking for equipment and systems that help improve efficiency, reduce losses, manage inputs and connect operational data. AGI’s current business spans traditional equipment as well as digital technologies, placing it in both the physical and data-driven sides of agriculture.

As AGI enters its fourth decade, the company says it remains focused on delivering value through engineering excellence, manufacturing capabilities and an understanding of the changing needs of agriculture.

For Canada’s agriculture sector, AGI’s anniversary is more than a company milestone. It is a reminder that Canadian-founded ag businesses continue to influence how crops are handled, stored and moved through the food system around the world.

On Canada Day, that makes AGI’s 30-year story a timely example of Canadian agricultural innovation with global reach.
