Canadian Foodgrains Bank among Canada’s top impact charities for eighth straight year

Canadian Foodgrains Bank has once again earned a spot on Charity Intelligence’s prestigious list of Canada’s Top 10 Impact Charities.

The annual ranking evaluates how effectively charities translate donations into measurable outcomes.

Foodgrains Bank executive director Andy Harrington said the consistent presence on the list highlights the commitment of its 15 member agencies and their local partners to transparency, efficiency, and meaningful change.

He said this is significant considering international aid is under intense scrutiny.

“In an era where the effectiveness of global assistance is increasingly questioned, this acknowledgment reinforces that well-executed humanitarian work truly makes a difference,” Harrington said. “It’s a testament to the commitment of our members, their partners, and our staff, as well as the compassionate Canadian supporters who continue to stand with communities facing hunger around the world – delivering real impact with compassion and integrity.”

With the announcement being made on the same day as the release of the federal budget, Harrington said funding for Official Development Assistance (ODA) should not be seen as an act of charity – but as a strategic investment in shared global stability, prosperity, and human dignity.

“We’re not just extending a helping hand to those in need [through ODA], we’re shaping a safer, more prosperous world for everyone, including Canadians… investing in others is, and always will be, an investment in ourselves,” he said.

Video: The Corn Looks Good!

Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. We also have a part-time employee, Brock. My dad started the farm in 1980. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.

I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.

I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!
