Demand Starts With The Seed

Make sure you’re choosing what your end users want

More protein. That’s what your soybean meal end users are demanding right now. Want to know how to meet that demand? Just ask.

Ask your soybean seed representative, that is.

“The protein levels of particular soybean seed varieties aren’t normally in the catalog your dealer puts in front of you, but he or she probably has it available,” says Bill Beam, a checkoff farmer-leader from Pennsylvania. “You just have to ask for it.”

Two different seed varieties might have the same maturity and potential for yield, but one may produce higher protein content than the other.

“Let’s plant the one with higher protein,” says Beam. “It’s not only going to result in a quality soybean, but it’s what our end users want.”

Not only will you be growing what end users want, you’ll be growing what your bottom line wants. That’s because greater demand will lead to increased value and farmer profitability.
