Different Growing Areas Can Affect Protein Content In Soybeans

Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers hosted a research tour last week at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research and Development centre in Morden.

Among the presenters was Anfu Hou, a research scientist with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

He explained about how different growing areas can affect the protein content of soybeans.

"There's a significant variation among varieties," said Hou. "There are varieties that have better values in certain kind of nutritions and environments. Different size, different years all have impacts on the yield."
