Former Agriculture Minister Marit Re-elected

The Saskatchewan Party won its fourth consecutive term last night.

Among the MLAs returning to the Saskatchewan Legislature is David Marit - the Sask Party MLA and candidate in the Wood River Constituency.

Marit had served as Agriculture Minister in Premier Scott Moe's cabinet prior to the election call.

He says agriculture is a priority for the Sask Party and the Provincial Economy and a key part of the Government's 2030 Growth Plan.

"We see the agri-food exports increasing to $20 billion. We're really going after the increase in crop production to 45 million metric tonnes. We also want to see increase in livestock cash receipts to $3 billion or greater. "

He says other goals for the agriculture sector include expanding irrigation within the province and increasing value-added processing to over $10 billion dollars.

We won't know if Marit will continue in his role as Agriculture Minister until Premier Moe unveils his new cabinet.
