Grain Farmers of Ontario Congratulates Ridgetown Campus on Field Crop Services Building

GUELPH, ON – Grain Farmers of Ontario, the province‘s largest commodity organization, representing Ontario‘s 28,000 barley, corn, oat, soybean, and wheat farmers congratulates the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus on receiving $6.5 million for the construction of the new Field Crop Services Building from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
 
Annually, Grain Farmers of Ontario invests approximately $500,000 into research projects based out of Ridgetown, leveraging a further $1 million in additional industry and government funding. The applied research outcomes from the Ridgetown Campus are critical for the competitiveness of Ontario’s grain farmers, and the new Field Crop Services Building is important infrastructure to enable these outcomes.
 
“Research is vital for the future of grain farming in Ontario. Our farmer members have always recognized the importance of understanding new innovation and evolving best practices based on science and experience,” said Crosby Devitt, CEO, Grain Farmers of Ontario. “We look forward to continued collaboration with the University of Guelph’s Ridgetown Campus and the new Field Crop Services Building.”
 
Construction is underway at the new Field Crop Services Building with an expected completion targeted for spring 2022.
