Growers can gain strong control of hard-to-kill broadleaf and grassy weeds in corn

Corn growers in Eastern Canada now have a new tool for fast and hassle-free weed control. DuPont Crop Protection announced today that the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) in Canada has granted approval for registration of DuPont™ Destra™ IS herbicide.

New Destra™ IS is a post-emergence corn herbicide that delivers unsurpassed convenience and flexibility while getting the job done with residual control and multiple modes of action.   Destra™ IS will allow growers to control hard-to-kill broadleaf and grassy weeds, to keep corn weed-free during the critical weed-free period to maximize yield and profits.

"Destra™ IS provides one-pass broad-spectrum knockdown and residual control, and adds two additional modes-of-action to a glyphosate tolerant system, making it a great tool for effective resistance management," says Dave Kloppenburg, row crop segment manager at DuPont Crop Protection. "Growers will get excellent value from the product in controlling difficult weeds today and ensuring these tools will continue to be effective for years to come."

Destra™ IS has a wide window of application, allowing growers to apply up to the eight-leaf stage, with excellent crop safety and a broader geography, including short season areas.Destra™ IS offers a smaller, easy-to-handle package and compact dry formulation, and is the only dry mesotrione formulation on the market. It offers faster pourability and bottle cleanout, freeing up time to get more spraying accomplished.

Destra™ IS will be available at local retailers in eastern Canada for the 2017 season.
