Manitoba Beef Producers Statement On Release Of AgriRecovery Program Details

Manitoba Beef Producers has released a statement on the release of AgriRecovery programs funding details and application process:

Manitoba Beef Producers (MBP) thanks the Government of Manitoba for announcing the details of the AgriRecovery assistance programs for livestock producers affected by the drought conditions, and for opening up the application process.

“The drought conditions have proven extremely taxing for Manitoba’s beef industry, triggering the need for AgriRecovery and other initiatives. The Livestock Feed and Transportation Drought Assistance program and the Livestock Transportation Drought Assistance program are going to be very important to our members as they make future management decisions related to the breeding stock on their farms and ranches,” said MBP president Tyler Fulton.

“We thank Agriculture and Resource Development Minister Ralph Eichler for making this announcement and we strongly encourage producers to review the program details to determine how they may assist with their individual operations.”

MBP has been advocating for initiatives to help drought-affected beef producers deal with the types of extraordinary costs which are not addressed within the existing suite business risk management programs, and the aforementioned programs should be beneficial for the sector.

MBP recognizes that many producers have had to make the difficult decision to downsize their herds due to the impact of the drought. It looks forward to continued discussions with governments about the elements of a herd recovery program to assist the industry in rebuilding when conditions improve.

The ongoing engagement MBP has had with Ministers and government officials about the drought and its impact on the beef sector is also appreciated.
