Minister's Statement on Agricorp Chair Appointment

Ernie Hardeman, Ontario's Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, issued the following statement:

I am pleased to announce Jason Verkaik has been appointed as the new chair of Agricorp's board of directors.

Mr. Verkaik brings a wealth of industry experience and understanding to this role. He is the owner and operator of Carron Farms Ltd. and is a Director involved with several industry associations including the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association where he is also the past chair, the Holland Marsh Growers Association, and the Ontario Produce Marketing Association.

I am confident that his first-hand experience in the agriculture sector will serve him well as he leads Agricorp's delivery of programs and services to our farmers, and help us achieve our goal of growing the agriculture sector.

Our government looks forward to working with Mr. Verkaik and Agricorp's board to help farmers manage the risks they face so they can focus on growing their businesses.
