Award Recognizes Dedication Professionalism and Service in Agriculture

AGCO announced its 2025 Operator of the Year: Jeff Coffey of Helena Ag Enterprises in Central Illinois. The award is presented during the Agricultural Retailers Association Annual Conference and Expo and honors application professionals for skill, dedication, and service to agriculture and local communities.

The Operator of the Year program highlights the important role professional applicators play in modern agriculture. These professionals support sustainable farming by helping improve crop performance, protect resources, and strengthen local economies. Their work contributes to efficient production systems and supports the growing demand for food worldwide.

The 2025 honoree Coffey built a long career in agricultural application services, beginning in Central Illinois. After joining the industry following high school, Coffey developed a reputation for reliability, technical skill, and careful equipment management. Over more than four decades, this dedication became a defining trait of professional success.

Throughout his career, his attention to detail, his willingness to support others, and his readiness to take on challenging tasks helped set a strong example for younger operators. In addition to his daily responsibilities, community involvement remains an important focus for him, with ongoing participation in local activities and events.

When asked what makes his job rewarding, Jeff says, “I just like working with the farmers. Their operations are their livelihood, and I respect what they do so I want to do a good job.” This statement reflects Coffey’s deep respect for agriculture and a strong commitment to quality work and service.

Outside of work, time spent camping and boating reflects Coffey’s appreciation for the outdoors and the natural environment connected to agricultural life. This balance supports his  long-term dedication to the profession.

Upon receiving the award, Coffey expressed appreciation for fellow finalists and for the opportunity to learn from different agricultural operations across the country.

Coffey also called out AGCO and ARA as “great organizations that help retailers spread smart practices that benefit application professionals, farmers and our communities.”

The 2025 Operator of the Year award reflects AGCO’s commitment to recognizing professionals who demonstrate excellence, integrity, and service within agriculture.
