Sask Pulse holding Regional Pulse Meetings next week

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers are gearing up for their annual Winter Pulse Meetings.

Producers are currently finalizing their cropping plans, looking at marketing options, lining up crop inputs and preparing for another busy spring.

Shannon Friesen is with the Ministry of Agriculture and says there are lots of issues to think about in the Pulse Sector this year.

"Not only are we dealing with moisture concerns heading into spring, but of course with some pricing stuff as well," she said. "With some of those actual grain prices being kind of down, we are having some issues with India as well, so certainly we are expecting there to be lots of interest this year."

Friesen says there’s a full agenda with information on new varieties, breeding, research and agronomy updates.

"Agrinomics of growing faba bean and soybeans, chickpeas, teas and lentils of course," she said. "Also touching on herbicide-resistant, pea leaf weevil, and fertility as well and as we do every year, we will have some marketing updates as well as some information on market access and market development as well."

Sask Pulse Winter Regional Meetings run Monday, February 5th in North Battleford and Regina; Tuesday, Feb 6th in Rosetown and Moosomin; Wednesday, February 7th in Assiniboia and Melfort; and Thursday In Swift Current and Humboldt.
