New Southco R4-50 Latch Boosts Cab Safety and Durability

Southco has launched a new cab access solution aimed at improving safety, durability, and ease of operation in demanding environments. The company’s latest product, the R4-50 Rotary Latch with Dual Triggers, is designed specifically for agricultural and heavy-duty construction equipment.

Built to perform in harsh operating conditions, the R4-50 Rotary Latch features independent interior and exterior actuation, allowing operators to enter and exit equipment cabs more safely and conveniently.

The system also includes a pre-loaded interior hand lever that helps reduce noise and vibration while ensuring smooth and dependable operation in high-impact environments.

To enhance safety, the latch incorporates accidental actuation prevention, reducing the risk of unintended movement that could compromise operator security. It also offers flexible release configurations, including remote actuation through cables or rods as well as direct push-release options, allowing manufacturers to adapt the system to different cab designs.

The latch meets FMVSS 206 impact standards and EN 45545-3 requirements. As part of Southco’s R4 Rotary Latch series, the design supports both mechanical and electromechanical configurations.

“The new R4-50 Rotary Latch with Dual Triggers offers a complete, highly versatile cab door entry system for use in heavy-duty construction and agricultural vehicles," said Global Product Manager Cynthia Bart. "The latches are compatible with Southco AC Actuators, allowing designers to quickly and affordably upgrade their existing designs.”
