USDA Shares Tips and Resources to Ensure Safe Food Handling

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has recently released a list of helpful tips and resources to promote safe food handling practices. The aim is to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses, which can lead to serious health consequences and even death.

The recommendations cover various aspects of food safety, including proper cooking temperatures, safe handling of leftovers, and maintaining hygiene in the kitchen. They also highlight the importance of using a food thermometer to ensure that food is cooked to a safe internal temperature, and avoiding cross-contamination by separating raw meats from other foods during storage and preparation.

The USDA emphasizes the need to be vigilant when it comes to food safety, particularly in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The agency suggests using delivery and curbside pickup services as much as possible to minimize exposure to the virus, and thoroughly washing hands and kitchen surfaces before and after handling food.

In addition to these tips, the USDA has also provided additional resources for consumers who are looking to learn more about food safety. These include online courses, instructional videos, and informational brochures that cover a wide range of food safety topics.

By following these recommendations and utilizing the available resources, consumers can help to ensure that their meals are safe and free from harmful bacteria and other contaminants. With proper food handling practices, we can all enjoy delicious and healthy meals without compromising our health and wellbeing.
