USDA: Weekly Export Sales Highlights

Wheat:  Net sales 574,000 MT for the 2010/11 marketing year were up 52 percent from the previous week, but down 17 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for Nigeria (137,300 MT), Iraq (100,000 MT), Egypt (74,000 MT), unknown destinations (47,500 MT), Mexico (40,900 MT), and Canada (25,800 MT, including 25,000 MT switched from unknown destinations).  Decreases were reported for Trinidad (5,200 MT), Venezuela (3,700 MT), South Korea (1,900 MT), and Belgium (1,400 MT).  Exports of 592,100 MT were down 12 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (74,700 MT), Egypt (56,500 MT), Nigeria (45,800 MT), Kenya (44,200 MT), Turkey (42,100 MT), and the Philippines (36,400 MT).  

Corn:  Net sales of 212,500 MT were down 77 percent from the previous week and 72 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Japan (144,900 MT, including 76,600 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 7,600 MT), Israel (68,000 MT), Egypt (23,400 MT), Costa Rica (23,100 MT, including 12,600 MT switched from Guatemala), Syria (20,000 MT, switched from Egypt), and Ecuador (20,000 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (86,700 MT), Mexico (45,800 MT), Panama (15,600 MT), and Guatemala (12,600 MT).  Optional origin sales were reported for South Korea (48,000 MT).  Exports of 833,500 MT were up 3 percent from the previous, but down 10 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (448,500 MT), South Korea (113,500 MT), Mexico (65,200 MT), Taiwan (52,800 MT), Egypt (42,200 MT), and Syria (20,000 MT).

Barley:  Net sales of 500 MT resulted as increases for Taiwan (500 MT) and Mexico (200 MT).  Decreases were reported for the Philippines (100 MT).  Exports of 500 MT were to Taiwan (400 MT) and the Philippines (100 MT).

Sorghum:  Net sales of 21,500 MT resulted as increases for Israel (17,500 MT) and Japan (14,500 MT, including 10,200 MT switched from unknown destinations), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (10,200 MT) and Mexico (400 MT).  Exports of 78,700 MT were to Japan (43,900 MT) and Mexico (34,700 MT).

Rice:  Net sales of 120,100 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and 43 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Mexico (43,300 MT), Japan (26,000 MT), unknown destinations (17,000 MT), Senegal (8,500 MT), and Nigeria (8,000 MT).  Decreases were reported for Jordan (200 MT).  Exports of 42,800 MT were down 41 percent from the previous week and 45 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Haiti (13,500 MT), Mexico (6,700 MT), Honduras (6,500 MT), Costa Rica (4,500 MT), and Canada (3,300 MT).

Soybeans:  Net sales of 2,017,200 MT were up 85 percent from the previous week and 66 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (1,451,000 MT, including 129,200 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 33,500 MT), unknown destinations (227,900 MT), Japan (115,000 MT, including 19,800 MT switched from China), Spain (81,200 MT, including 74,500 MT switched from unknown destinations), Mexico (51,700 MT), and Thailand (21,400 MT).  Decreases were reported for Guatemala (6,500 MT).  Exports for own account were reported for Canada (80,400 MT).  Exports of 1,624,900 MT were up 39 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to China (1,103,700 MT), Mexico (110,900 MT), Spain (80,900 MT), Japan (80,400 MT), and Taiwan (80,400 MT).  Note:  Accumulated exports were adjusted down for the Netherlands (21,400 MT).

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 245,700 MT were down 42 percent from the previous week.  Increases were reported for the Philippines (68,200 MT), Mexico (59,800 MT), Australia (40,000 MT), Poland (30,000 MT, including 27,500 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Canada (18,800 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (11,800 MT), Panama (3,000 MT), and the French West Indies (1,900 MT).  Net sales of 1,000 MT for delivery in 2011/2012 were for Canada.  Exports of 187,000 MT were primarily to Venezuela (30,800 MT), Mexico (30,600 MT), the Philippines (30,600 MT), and Poland (30,000 MT).

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 13,700 MT for delivery in 2010/11 reported for Morocco (9,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Mexico (5,400 MT), Algeria (3,300 MT), Nicaragua (3,000 MT), and Guatemala (2,600 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (9,000 MT) and Canada (1,700 MT).  Exports of 15,600 MT were primarily to Morocco (9,000 MT), Hong Kong (3,000 MT), Mexico (2,400 MT), and Canada (1,000 MT).

Cotton:  Net Upland sales of 499,300 running bales were down 9 percent from the previous week and 17 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for China (163,000 RB, including 10,000 RB switched from Mexico and decreases of 6,600 RB), Vietnam (135,300 RB), Turkey (113,300 RB), Indonesia (15,700 RB), and Colombia (14,600 RB).  Decreases were reported for Mexico (18,300 RB).  Net sales of 66,100 RB for delivery in 2011/12 were mainly for Japan (28,200 RB), Turkey (17,600 RB), and Thailand (11,900 RB).  Exports for own account were reported for China (1,800 RB) and Turkey (200 RB).  Exports of 82,500 RB were down 5 percent from the previous week and 39 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (16,700 RB), Mexico (12,600 RB), Thailand (9,200 RB), and Indonesia (6,800 RB).  Net American Pima sales of 4,200 RB were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 57 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for South Korea (2,000 RB), China (1,300 RB), and Mexico (700 RB).  Net sales of 31,300 RB for delivery in 2011/12 were mainly for India (10,400 RB), South Korea (8,200 RB), Japan (5,100 RB), and Indonesia (5,100 RB).  Exports of 4,100 RB were primarily to Peru (2,000 RB) and India (1,500 RB).

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 531,800 pieces reported for delivery in 2010, up 39 percent from the previous week and 16 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hides sales of 532,400 pieces were mainly for China (244,100 pieces), South Korea (156,200 pieces), Taiwan (42,100 pieces), Hong Kong (29,800 pieces), Mexico (17,800 pieces), and Vietnam (15,900 pieces).  Exports of 414,800 pieces were down 12 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hides exports of 405,100 pieces were primarily to China (176,500 pieces), South Korea (106,100 pieces), Taiwan (34,500 pieces), Thailand (18,300 pieces), and Italy (18,000 pieces).

Net sales of 110,700 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were up 28 percent from the previous week, but down 39 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were China (33,400 unsplit), Mexico (16,300 grain splits and 2,000 unsplit), and Thailand (11,300 unsplit and 3,600 grain splits).  Exports of 154,300 hides were primarily to Italy (46,200 unsplit and 5,300 grain splits), China (40,300 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (8,900 grain splits and 8,600 unsplit), and Vietnam (16,700 unsplit).  Net sales reductions of splits totaling 124,900 pounds were mainly for South Korea (115,600 pounds).  Exports of 946,700 pounds were primarily for South Korea (781,000 pounds).

Beef:  Net sales of 27,400 MT were mainly for South Korea (6,400 MT), Japan (5,100 MT), Vietnam (4,500 MT), Mexico (3,400 MT), and Hong Kong (2,300 MT).  Exports of 17,800 MT were primarily to Mexico (4,300 MT), Japan (2,700 MT), South Korea (2,600 MT), Canada (1,900 MT), and Vietnam (1,800 MT).
