Gabryele Carter wins feed your future grant

AgCareers.com has announced the winner of its third annual Feed Your Future Scholarship, awarding $1,000 to Gabryele Carter, a junior at the University of Kentucky studying Agricultural Economics. Originally from Delaware, Carter’s academic focus and dedication to agricultural issues have set her apart.

The Feed Your Future Scholarship was established to support students pursuing education or careers in agriculture, particularly those committed to making a positive impact in the industry. AgCareers.com remains dedicated to fostering talent in the agriculture sector through initiatives like this scholarship.

Carter has demonstrated a deep passion for agriculture and a strong commitment to community service. She has actively volunteered with underrepresented farmers and worked with non-profit organizations aimed at advancing agricultural representation and equity. Reflecting on her work, Carter shared, “I have seen the power of advocacy and education in transforming lives. As a minority in agriculture, I understand the importance of representation and support in an industry where diversity is often lacking.”

Carter plans to use her degree in agricultural economics to empower rural and minority communities by promoting financial literacy and providing better access to credit, which she believes will foster agricultural equity. Her long-term goal is to bridge the gap between underserved communities and essential resources, especially fresh food and nutrition education.

During the scholarship application process, students were required to answer an essay question on how they would contribute to feeding the world with their talents. Carter’s essay highlighted her mission to help alleviate food deserts, which are areas lacking access to affordable, nutritious food.

“By connecting local farmers to these communities, we can bring fresh produce directly to those in need, supporting both the local agriculture and improving health outcomes,” she explained.

Video: Fendt Slicer - Automated adjustment of the conditioner intensity

The Fendt Slicer explained: Grassland and forage stands show a high heterogeneous biomass growth when cut, which leads to different initial dry masses and drying speeds. The aim is to have a consistent dry matter content of 30 to 40% across the entire field. The Fendt Slicer 960/1010 Pro models with optional tine conditioner offer variable adjustment of the conditioner intensity thanks to the innovative ISOBUS control. The automatic adjustment is made using sensors in real time measurements or using application data based on the position registration of the biomass.
