The recipients operate three ag-based businesses:
Conquest Agro Services Ltd., an 11,000-acre grain farm
Dryland Agro. Services Ltd., an independent retail outlet for fertilizer, seed, and chemicals
Kirriemuir Ag & Oil 2009 Ltd, a general store with automotive parts, agricultural parts and a post office

Vert and Pospisil, through Conquest Agro Services Ltd., strive "to improve the sustainability of the farming operation by implementing progressive management practices to increase the viability of the soils within the farm, in hopes of leaving the land in a high producing state for future generations,” a Tuesday OYF release said.

The pair are committed to ensuring the success of the rural community and are working hard to support the diversification in agriculture.

Luanne Lynn, past president of Canada’s OYF program, recognized Vert and Pospisil’s passion for agriculture.

“They are always seeking out new opportunities and are not afraid of investing hard work to see where these opportunities will take them,” she said in the release.

“The four outstanding finalists in the Alta./N.W.T. regional event exhibited a passion for their farm businesses, communities and agriculture. They should all be proud of their accomplishments to date as it has not always been an easy road to get there," she added.

The long-term objective of Canada's OYF Program is “to build an alumni that will provide an agricultural resource to young beginner farmers, established farmers, agri-business, the media and urban sectors by recognizing excellence in young farmers under the age of 40 each year at the national event,” Carla Kaeding, Canada’s OYF program manager, told Farms.com yesterday.

“The program provides an agricultural resource of positive and proactive people that will bring agriculture to a level of respect and visibility to all Canadians,” she said.

The Alberta Region of Canada’s OYF Program celebrated four couples at its 2019 event:
Andrew & Denise Mans – Mans Organics Coaldale, Alta.
Jordan & Tynnell Schmaus, JTS Farms, Bruce, Alta.
Jared & Julia Serben, Seben Farms, Smoky Lake, Alta.
Dallas Vert & Natasha Pospisil, Conquest Agro Services Ltd, Kirremuir, Alta.

This year’s Alberta/Northwest Territories OYF celebration ran on Feb. 8 in Red Deer, Alta.

Canada’s 2019 OYF will be chosen at the National Event in Fredericton, N.B. from Dec. 3 to 8.

Video: California Farm Bureau 2025 Farm Dog of the Year Contest Winner - Willy - CAFB 107th Annual Meeting

Meet Willy: California Farm Bureau’s 2025 Farm Dog of the Year!

We’re excited to introduce Willy, a miniature long-haired dachshund with a big heart and even bigger courage, and the Grand Prize winner of this year’s Farm Dog of the Year Contest!

Willy may be small, but he’s become an indispensable partner on owner Marshal Hagedorn’s forestry and cattle operations in Shasta, Tehama, and Siskiyou counties. Adopted in 2023, he quickly found his place on the ranch, helping manage critters, tagging along for long days in the woods, and offering unwavering companionship during demanding logging work.

Willy has even taken naturally to moving cattle, surprising calves (and more than a few full-grown cows!) with his burst of energy from the tall grass. As Marshal put it: “He goes with me everywhere every single day.”

Congratulations to Willy and his family, a perfect example of how every good farm dog, no matter the size, helps keep California agriculture running strong.
