Learn Vital Child Safety strategies in agriculture

Ensuring child safety on farms and ranches is vital. The Childhood Agricultural Safety Network (CASN) is hosting a virtual meeting on January 17 at 10 a.m. Central Time, marking its 25th anniversary.

This free event is an excellent opportunity for farm parents, agribusiness leaders, and youth organizations to collaborate on child and youth safety in agriculture.

Founded in 2000 and facilitated by the National Children’s Center for Rural and Agricultural Safety and Health, CASN offers a platform to discuss and develop child safety strategies.

This network, supported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, provides a forum for nearly 250 members to share knowledge and resources.

During the virtual meeting, participants can learn about the latest in child agriculture safety, engage in discussions, and access an array of resources through the CASN Online Community. Here, members can exchange information on child ag injury incidents and safety strategies.

"The whole idea behind the CASN group is to enhance communication between people and organizations interested in child safety and health," explains Andrea Swenson, Ph.D., director at the National Children’s Center.

Joining CASN allows for greater collective impact in safeguarding children in agricultural environments.
