Experienced ag-sector leader takes the helm May 1 to support OFVC’s continued growth and innovation

The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention (OFVC), whose annual convention is Feberuary 18 and 19, has named Kelle Neufeld as its new General Manager, effective May 1, 2026.

Neufeld brings more than 12 years of experience in the Canadian agriculture sector, with a career focused on strengthening commodity groups and fostering collaboration among growers, government, and industry partners. In her new role, she will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of OFVC—one of the country’s most influential annual events for fruit and vegetable producers.

Neufeld says she is eager to support an industry she’s worked closely with for more than a decade.

“Having worked alongside growers for many years, I understand how important it is to create opportunities for learning, connection, and collaboration. As General Manager, I’m excited to help build on OFVC’s strong foundation of delivering a high-quality event that reflects the strength and innovation of our industry,” said Neufeld.

The OFVC Board says Neufeld’s blend of agricultural expertise and organizational leadership makes her an ideal fit.

“Kelle brings a blend of agricultural experience and proven strengths in event planning, program delivery, and organizational leadership. Her skill set makes her an excellent fit for OFVC, and we are confident she will play a key role in supporting the conference’s continued success and growth,” said OFVC Board President Kelly Ciceran.

Her appointment reinforces OFVC’s ongoing commitment to supporting Ontario’s horticulture sector by offering high‑value education, showcasing innovative products and services, and connecting attendees with leading researchers, growers, and industry specialists.

A chain harrow is a game changer

Video: A chain harrow is a game changer

Utilizing a rotational grazing method on our farmstead with our sheep helps to let the pasture/paddocks rest. We also just invested in a chain harrow to allow us to drag the paddocks our sheep just left to break up and spread their manure around, dethatch thicker grass areas, and to rough up bare dirt areas to all for a better seed to soil contact if we overseed that paddock. This was our first time really using the chain harrow besides initially testing it out. We are very impressed with the work it did and how and area that was majority dirt, could be roughed up before reseeding.

Did you know we also operate a small business on the homestead. We make homemade, handcrafted soaps, shampoo bars, hair and beard products in addition to offering our pasture raised pork, lamb, and 100% raw honey.
