A daylong event aimed at keeping younger generations in rural Ontario is scheduled for June 29 at the Stratford Rotary Complex in Stratford, Ontario.

The Rural Ontario Summit on Youth will bring together people between the ages of 15 and 29 to network with leaders from government, community organizations and rural businesses.

The event will focus on four key themes important to today’s rural youth:

  • Opportunities for education and training
  • Creating jobs and entrepreneurship
  • Building strong social infrastructure
  • Engaging youth in civic leadership

“Through discussions at roundtables I’ve hosted across the province, I’ve had the opportunity to hear youth and community leaders share their ideas for building a strong rural Ontario,” said Ontario Minister of Agriculture Jeff Leal, who will be a speaker during the event. “This summit will act as a catalyst for engaging youth in their communities and help municipalities, businesses and Ontarians of all ages come together to build the future of rural Ontario.”

Anyone interested in attending the summit needs to register.

Anyone unable to make it but still wants to experience all the goings-on can watch it through a livestream.

People can also follow along on social media using the hashtags #ROS16 and #RuralON.

All adventures must come to an end, but not without one more journey! Join The Wandering Shepherds as we say farewell to our cozy Calabogie cottage and take the scenic road trip home to Ewetopia Farms. This year, the colors seemed to arrive earlier than usual—perhaps due to the summer’s drought? Whatever the reason, it was an unforgettable display of Ontario’s fall beauty. Finally, our holiday drew to a close as we pulled back into Ewetopia Farms, ready to return to the sheep and our daily vlogs. But this trip reminded us how important it is to pause, explore, and appreciate the simple beauty around us.
