Traxos Xtreme and Traxos III help control weeds in cereal crops
Farmers in Western Canada will have two new Syngenta herbicides to include in their 2026 post-emerge crop plans.
Traxos Xtreme and Traxos III are for growers producing spring wheat and durum.
“Growers are increasingly looking for herbicides to tackle grass and broadleaf weeds with a focus on resistant weeds that we’ve never seen before,” Leighton Blashko, technical lead for herbicides with Syngenta, told Farms.com.
Traxos Xtreme is a pre-mix with pinoxaden, clodinafop-propargyl, and an “optimized rate” of fluroxypyr of 111 grams per litre.
“This is probably the highest rate of fluroxypyr you’re going to find in the market, so you’re going to have that high level of control you’d expect,” Blashko said.
And because the herbicide is a tank mix product, farmers have flexibility to add other products to the tank to round out control.
“Traxos Xtreme is a great setup herbicide that works well with other partners,” Blashko said.
Syngenta’s website lists Buctril M, Curtail M, MCPA Ester, and Infinity, as possible options.
Traxos III is an all-in-one solution.
“It’s a co-pack so it’s not all in one jug. If you buy a case you’re going to have a couple of jugs but everything you need is in the box and you don’t have to add any tank mixes,” Blashko said.
Traxos III includes bromoxynil and 2,4-D, as well as the other ingredients found in Traxos Xtreme.
“That gives farmers very wide-ranging control,” Blashko said. “We hear a lot about controlling Russian thistle, and this product would be a good fit for that.”
Both products are labeled for post-emerge applications.
“Anywhere from the early crop stage to before you’re at the flag leaf stage,” Blashko said.
