New partnership brings faster feed risk analysis and better decision support

Alltech has announced a new partnership with ProGnosis Biotech aimed at improving mycotoxin testing and analysis for the global agriculture industry. The collaboration combines advanced testing technology with digital data tools to help producers, feed manufacturers, and livestock operations make more informed decisions.

Mycotoxins are naturally occurring toxins produced by certain molds that can contaminate crops and feed ingredients. These toxins can affect animal health, reduce performance, and create economic challenges for farmers and feed businesses. As weather conditions continue to change around the world, the risk of mycotoxin contamination is becoming a greater concern for the agricultural sector.

The alliance between Alltech and ProGnosis Biotech focuses on providing faster and more accurate testing solutions. The partnership will integrate mycotoxin test results from ProGnosis with Alltech's RAPIREAD™ platform. This connection will allow users to receive not only test results but also valuable interpretation and risk analysis.

By turning raw data into practical information, the system helps users better understand the potential effects of mycotoxins on livestock health and performance. This can support decision-making throughout the feed and livestock supply chain, from ingredient sourcing to feeding strategies.

One of the major goals of the partnership is to strengthen mycotoxin monitoring and risk management. Farmers and feed manufacturers often need timely information to respond quickly when contamination is detected. Access to rapid testing and localized intelligence can help them act before problems become more serious.

Agriculture is increasingly impacted by drought, extreme heat, and heavy rainfall. These environmental conditions can affect crop development and create favorable conditions for mold growth and toxin production. As a result, reliable testing systems are becoming more important for feed safety and animal production.

The new collaboration is designed to help producers adapt to these challenges. Advanced testing technologies can provide quicker results while digital analysis tools can identify trends and highlight areas of concern. Together, these capabilities help businesses manage risks more effectively.

Although the partnership has a global focus, the initial phase will concentrate on Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. These regions are experiencing growing mycotoxin challenges and offer opportunities to combine the strengths of both companies. Lessons learned during this phase may support further expansion into other regions.

“Alltech RAPIREAD™ allows users to understand their true mycotoxin risk as it relates to animal performance and health,” said Dr. Alexandra Weaver, global technical support for Alltech. “The collaboration between Alltech and ProGnosis gives those in the agricultural industry the ability to not only test for mycotoxins but also gain insights about their data.”

According to Alltech, the integration will allow users to gain a clearer understanding of their mycotoxin risks. The company believes that connecting testing data with advanced analysis tools will help users move beyond simple detection and toward more effective risk management.

ProGnosis Biotech brings expertise in rapid testing solutions designed to support food and feed safety throughout the supply chain. Its lateral flow testing technology is designed to deliver quick and easy results, helping users monitor potential contamination efficiently.

“ProGnosis Biotech is dedicated to the development of fast and simple testing solutions to ensure food safety throughout the supply chain,” said Sebastien Poisson, business development manager at ProGnosis. “Integrating ProGnosis Biotech’s rapid lateral flow test strips into Alltech’s RAPIREAD™ platform seamlessly fuses ProGnosis’ readers with Alltech’s global risk-management platform, combining rapid testing with automated trend and risk analysis.”

The partnership reflects a broader trend in agriculture toward combining testing technologies with digital tools and data analysis. As producers seek ways to improve efficiency and reduce risk, integrated solutions are becoming increasingly valuable.

By working together, Alltech and ProGnosis Biotech aim to provide the agricultural industry with stronger mycotoxin detection capabilities, improved data analysis, and practical insights that support better decisions for feed quality, livestock health, and overall farm performance.
