Canada, US Beef Producers Hold Round Table Discussion

Participants say the Canada US International Round table discussions were informative.
 
Canadian and American beef producers met this week at Canadian Western Agribition.
 
US Representatives from Colorado, Indiana, Minnesota and Nebraska took part.
 
Linda Chezen is from Indiana and is with the US National Cattlemen’s Association
 
"I have no problem in repealing it. I do have a problem with labeling the source of food because we also freely import from other countries - not just Canada," she said.
 
She says a large part of the pressure for COOL comes from consumers Meanwhile, Bill Baldwin is with the Nebraska Farm Bureau.
 
"American Farm Bureau's current policy is we support COOL if it complies with the parameters with the WTO - which is doesn't. So, I guess we basically don't support COOL," he said.
