CFIA Says No New Cases Of Bovine TB In Saskatchewan And Alberta

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued an update on its Bovine Tuberculosis investigation in southeast Alberta, as well as a handful of ranches in southwest Saskatchewan.
 
The CFIA says there have been no new cases over the past month.
 
About 26,000 cows are under quarantine on 45 ranches in Alberta and five in southwest Saskatchewan.
 
10-thousand of the cattle linked to the original herd are being slaughtered as a precaution.
 
Agriculture Canada says cheques have been sent to 16 of the affected ranchers.
 
The money comes from a 16.7 million dollar fund established by the federal government.
